BA, BSN, MPA, MN, PMHNP
I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 32 years, working with patients from all walks of life. The one thing we all have in common is that we sometimes need help to deal with what life has put in front of us. Anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, and depression can put a great strain on our ability to live a fulfilling life, but every day we learn more about how to treat these sometimes debilitating conditions.
Academic Credentials: BA in Psychology, a BSN in Nursing, a Masters in Public Administration (MPA), and a Masters in Nursing (MN), with a specialty as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Clinical Training: Spans the fields of neuroscience, pharmacology, biology, chemistry, psychiatry, psychology, and all of the aspects of nursing that help me understand human beings on a very personal and holistic level. I have special training in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including panic attacks and PTSD. My clinical background includes, among other experiences, a year-long internship at the VA Medical Center PTSD Clinic, treating veterans and providing support for their families.
Prescribing Medications: I am licensed to prescribe medications and include them in my treatment recommendations when they are necessary and helpful for healing. When we treat the whole person, instead of focusing on a single aspect such as the body or the mind, our entire organism is called into service to help us heal.
Special Interest: I have a special interest and training in mindfulness techniques, which helped to form my orientation as a holistic practitioner. These methods of reaching quiet awareness can be very useful in working with symptoms of anxiety.
